Pieces that make good bass duo/trio/quartet/etc. arrangements?

Discussion in 'Music [DB]' started by tbassist4, Sep 24, 2010.

  1. Hey everyone,
I'm an undergrad bass major, and I love arranging music. I was just wondering what your suggestions are for multi-instrument pieces that transfer well to the bass. I've done some arrangements of the Bach Two Part Inventions and the Sinfonias, and am planning on programming my arrangement of the 12th Sinfonia on my recital this semester. I would really appreciate any suggestions of other music that would work well for basses that is not traditionally played on bass. I'll also share a few of these when I'm done.

    Thanks everyone,
    Tyler

Chorales make great arrangements. As do motets and many organ preludes.

You can transcribe some folk songs. They usually sound great on double basses.
