I've an NS Design CR4M EUB, and when I have the bass in piezo only mode, I get a harsh crackling sound whenever I pluck hard. I think I've read somewhere that this is due to the piezo crystals being damaged? I'm really not sure, and I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas.

I also didn't know if this would be the best place for this question, so if the EUB forum suits it better, feel free to move it, mods.

They have a threshold voltage at which they will start to break up. It may be as low as 8.5 volts. If that doesn't solve it, check the preamp for any loose solder joints. Just touch them up with a hot iron to reconnect any potential problem joints.
