Thinking about micro philosopher Left of overdrive pedal Leveling out open D/C#, hammers and pull offs, and sustain for acoustic and clean songs. Need feedback good and bad Thanks everyone. Love this place.
I have the Philosopher Gold Micro (not the bass specific one). No low end loss to my ears, works great on bass. Nice sounding optical compressor, and easy to set up (just Sustain and Volume knobs for the basics). The grit function is completely wasted on me, germanium or not... it's a high gain distortion sound which you can blend with the compressed sound. There's also a parallel dry blend which some folks love; I don't use it but it's a nice feature especially in this tiny form factor. Might be worth also looking at the Fairfield Accountant, another cool sounding tiny size compressor but with a much more subtle overdrive compared to the Philosopher.
