I've been searching for recorded examples of these strings with no luck. Can anybody point me in the right direction? I've also read all the threads related to what might be my next string set but any comments about them are welcome. Thanks in advance.
Edgar Meyer uses them on G & D (Spiro's and E & A): From what I have read: great strings for arco and pizz, but a little higher tension. So great strings for basses with less longer scale like 103 -104 cm. Along with the Jazzer E the Permanent E is quite popular. But what happened to you? I thought you were quite enthousiastic about the Evah's weich?
I just want to keep trying different strings. I liked the EP weich but i found them to be maybe a little bit too elastic or soft under the bow for heavier orchestra passages. That's why I keep searching the perfect string...if there is such a thing
Thanks for the clips. I really like the sound that he and Edgar Meyer get for this kind of music. I wish I could find some Permanent clips in a classical setting.
As I know Edgar Meyer also play classical, so you might look for him in this context on youtube or elsewhere.
Yes, I have been listenin¡ng to some of his albums Bach's Cello suits, etc. I would like to find other players that use these strings so I can hear them with different basses/players. In spite of being advertised as an arco string, I can't find much info on players that use them.
