I'd use a synthesizer, (keyboard), but it sounds like some sort of bit crushing gated fuzz with square wave nastiness-nicely done.

A similar tone could likely be dialed up on an EHX Bass Micro Synthesizer.

Cool - that electroharmonix bass microsynth looks sweet.

    What's a TAFM?

    Thanks for the responses.

Bingo- Korg G5 gets as close to nailing it as anthing I've ever played.

I've always liked the sound fuzz tone in that song...

If I were to try to get it today, I'd look hard at the Wooly Mammoth, maybe in combination with my SYB-5, but maybe not...

Other suggestions here are just as, if not more valid.

Thanks for reminding me of this song though.

    Atypical, not a typical...
You can nail that with the Deep Impact, setting one.

Make sure you blend clean. If that does not work, try a Mastotron with the sub switch at 3, and crush it.

I think there's even a setting named after the song in the manual - seriously, no kidding.
