Just finished shielding and shimming my daughter's PJ bass. Now that I have it together (finally!), it seems the pickups are wired out of phase. On its own, The P pickup sounds great, and the J pickup on its own sounds great as well. However, when both are full up, it seems like the D and G strings get much quieter. The E and A seems about the same. Is it possible I may have put in one of the P pick up halves backwards?

Bass is some old Magnum PJ knockoff. She likes it for sentimental reasons :)

    Thank you!
  2. Phase issues are usually caused by wiring, rather than misorienting the pickups. You would have to flip a pickup upside down to invert its phase.

Try swapping the leads on one pickup.
