Would using high end cables like planet waves make a difference in my sound? Right now I am just using random mostly peavey cables. Also if higher end cables would make a difference, what brand is the best?

Well, I think high end cables dont really make THAT big of a difference in sound, but I like them because they are built very well. I use Monster Standard 100 series cables (if you consider them high end, they're only $20) and I love the way they are put together. The outside has this rubbery sheath on it and the connectors are gold plated. Everything is very durable. I highly recommend them. I own two 21 foot cables.

You may or may not hear a difference in sound, depending on how much the cables you are using now suck. But I would never pay less than $20 for a cable, cause you'll end up buying a new cable in a couple weeks anyway. Buy Monster Cables, theyre guaranteed for life and built like tanks.

  3. I've found both Planet Waves and George L's to have more clarity than my old cables. I use the PW from my bass since it is built for heavier duty than the GL's. The GL's work fine for an effects loop. Both are a bit less expensive than the Monsters.

Get something with a lifetime warranty, like Monster or Planet Waves. I know that with my Peavey Cirrus, Pedulla Rapture or Zon Sonus Custom, through my Eden or SWR, I can hear a difference between my Monster cable and the $12.99 cables that I used to buy. But I doubt that the audience can at a gig.

If I had bought one good, lifetime guaranteed Monster cable when I was 17, and exchanged it if it ever shorted out, I could have saved myself at least $300 in cables that crapped out on me and got thrown away.

    2 Questions.
    1. What do you guys like better Planet-Waves, or Moster Cables.
2.If monster cables, is the 100 series considered good, or do I need the 500 series?
    Thanks

  6. Well i would say monster cables and try to at least get the 500s. Personally I have Monster Proline 1000 cables.

Also, does the warrentee on them cover any sort of damage so i know? If not, what type of damage does it cover?

Yeah, i usually don't use them to play though, only record considering the crap cable that links my combo together, and so it's so small, there is no audible difference live, but in recording, major difference. When i get my new rig, i will definately use these babies live too. :)

I prefer monster cables, because I trust the Monster cable name. The 100 series is perfectly fine, the 500 or 1000 cables dont sound any better, IMO and they are stiff and hard to coil and carry around. The 1/4" phone plugs on the 100 series cables are awesome anyway, better than any other ones Ive seen under $30. I would spring for some standard 100 ones if I were you, and get the 21' ones. Theyre only about $4 more, and you get almost twice the length of cable. Much more useful.
