Played a Sadowsky Metro Today

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by BlakeBass, Apr 10, 2004.

  1. I stopped by Roger to try out a Metro and see what all the hubbub was and all I can say is WOW. Roger was his usual accommodating self. Makes you feel right at home. Anyway, I played the tobacco burst Jazz and the natural. Both basses were awesome. The tobacco felt especially comfortable. The build quality is terriffic, beautifully finished, and the sound, that was the killer. Just a great bass to play. I'll be selling my Stingray and '79 Jazz to get one.
Can you tell I liked it? :hyper:

Roger is the man, i am eagerly awaiting the near future when i will be placing an order for an 24fret Ash/Maple in Trans Blue. Were these the 4 or 5 string Metro's?.

That's great. I'm sure it was awesome. Cool thing about the Metro and Tokyo series is when someones asks you about it all you have to say is it's a Sadowsky. You don't have to separate it from the NYC models like a USA Lakland to a Skyline. They are every bit as great whether from NY or Tokyo.

    So very true.

  5. I played the 4 string basses. DEEP was correct, the Metro's are as much a Sadowsky as the NYC models. His touch can be felt (and heard) in all of his instruments. I can't wait to play one through my BMAX-T.

Sads seem like such a staple bass for any arsenal, you need to have atleast one or two...or three....or more:cool:

    Hi!

The metro's are great. I've got the olympic white metro from NAMM this January. I've used it 6 or 7 gigs now and it sounds and plays fantastic. They are very close to a NYC Sadowsky!!

Flod, don't sell. You'll hate yourself later

Oh, I don't know. Personally, I am quite happy with my Skyline, and I have not really noticed any qualitative difference between the Skylines and the USA models. The Skylines are a whole lot cheaper though. Personally, I cannot afford $2500 for a bass. :D

    Definitely.

The only difference is real Hipshot tuners, no battery flip-up compartment, and they're not 100% made in the USA. If my 55-02 Standard (natural/maple) isn't one of the damn finest instruments I've ever played, I don't know what is. Every Skyline is assembled in the US of A, and goes through all the same specs and setup that the -94's do.
