playing scales to improve improve lines

Discussion in 'Technique [BG]' started by violatedppl, Jun 10, 2005.

  1. I have been playing for about 3 years and I have never been a strictly root note bass player I am proud to say, but their are times when I would like to go off into the magical world of some pretty tricky bass lines. I feel as though I have the ability to play them, but lack in the ablility to write them and I am looking for something that might help me get their. And I was sondering if learing different scales would help this problem of mine or am I sol until I get my theory down a little more.

Scales are part of theory. If you want to have a stronger grasp of how notes work in different ways learning the Major scale and its associated modes is a good place to start.
