Like soul and gospel music. For instance right now having the jackson5 on my box would not have been a possibilty as a guitar player(which i have been for 20 years, recently picked up bass)now **** i've got on the temptations, aretha franklin, sly, marvin gaye...stuff i never really explored....kick ass **** man .what have i been missing all these years??????......that earthiness man.....that bass :bassist:
  2. That's really cool, man. Getting away from guitar (and guitar oriented music) and concentrating on bass can really open your eyes to music in a different way. I dig all the music you mentioned. You should check out "Donny Hathaway Live" with Willie Weeks on bass if you haven't already. Also, the reissue of King Curtis "Live at the Fillmore West" with Jerry Jemmott and the amazing Bernard Purdie on drums is worth a listen.
