    Hey guys!

I'd like to pull the trigger on a p-bass.

I'm not even sure it's a real fender.

The seller says it's from fender Japan.

Any idea of this is true or not?

Squier Affinity probably ... nice job of applying the waterslide though ... ;)

I'm no expert but I don't like the look of that headstock decal! And I don't know any Fenders that have a single ply pickguard. Also the seller didn't include any pictures showing a serial number or a "crafted in..." inscription.
Id say best case scenario is its a MIJ Squire, worst case scenario it is a cheap Squire or nothing at all.

Those tuners look like crap too!!!

That was my guess as well. The color and the small tuning pegs give it away (to me at least).

    Good Luck!
  6. yikes... looks like a Squier Affinity Series (small diameter tuners) with a horrendous decal added...

Probably a $75 bass. Not a Fender and not made in Japan.
  8. I've got a Squier Affinity that looks exactly like that, color and all. $75.00 Max.

Look under the P on the logo, you can see the line of the waterslide paper!

Hope you never paid anymore than $50 for it. Because it can't even be passed of as a Squier Affinity without the logo :(

Wow, i did not notice the fake decal.

The truss rod access and the little tuners are what made me think it was a fake, it looks like an old squier affinity.

I new i should ask here before buying it!

    Thanks everyone.

Along with all the previous reasons, that color seems suspect.

The 'Fender' headstock script is way too fat......

...which may lead to the rest of the world into thinking its USA made.

... nothing wrong with a Squier Affinity, they serve their purpose very well, and can be quite playable with a little attention by those that like to tinker inexpensively ... it is simply not as OP has been led to believe, and apparently with less than honest intentions by someone not very good at it ...
