I amp getting my first stack and i am trying to make sure that i wont overpower speakers or anything.
Firstly i am getting the Hartke 3500 with the transporter 4x10 cab.
the cab is 300W at 8 ohms and the head is 350W at 4 ohms and 240W at 8 ohms.
i want to figure out how (if i need to do anything) to switch the head to operate at 8 ohms since there is not an impedance selector on the back.

    please help me...

p.s. i have been looking around and seeing different power ratings "program" and "continuous" on the same cabs. What do these mean?

The amp runs at what ever the cab tells it to. You run an 8 ohm cab, the amp runs at 8 ohms. That's it.

then what is the point of an impedance selector? i know many guitar amps have them (not totally sure about bass but i kinda assumed it would be the same)

Tube amps mostly have impedance selectors to match to the load. Most SS amps don't need one as the amp just delivers more power into a lower impedance.

Most impedance selectors are found on tube amps.
You can also use two 8 ohm cabs to get the 4 ohm wattage out of the 3500.

Yep, plug it in a go. You're good. I am playing the same head with an 8X10 cab.

    Hi aschreiber2010.

The first commandment of bass amp ownership?

    Thou shalt RTFM. ;)
