Hi guys. What do you think of MusiciansFriend.com versus Music123.com as a retailer? I heard a lot of good things about Music123 and never really heard anything about MusiciansFriend.com. but I sent them email asking couple of things -- never heard a reply. I'm interested in this because both of them have a bass that I want -- Marcus Miller Sig. (4-string) Jazz Bass. Which one of them would you recommend? Is there any other retailer that has this bass in their inventory? Thanks.
hey there, check out the classified section on here. I am sure SOMEone is selling one. But, I bought my poweramp from musiciansfriend. They're allright. But i called in the order. I have never used music123.
Thanks man, I already saw one, but I want a new one, after all the s**t I've been playing on you want some nice bass.
I ahve heard several negative things about musician's friend customer service. I'd say about 50% of teh people I've talked to would never buy from them again after their experience. I am not familiar with music 123 however.
I can get that for you from work. I work ata fender dealer. You can PM me if you are interested. The website is www.samuelmusic.com
Just so you know Guitar Center owns Musicians Friend. I have picked up some things from them....but nothing major. As for Music123 I never dealt with them. Most companies now adays know that customer service is what makes customers come back, or recommend them. Just check all the music sites till you feel comfortable with the prices.
I personally tend to avoid large chain corporations such as musiciansfriend.com (owned by Guitar Center) samash.com and others like that. Music123.com however is a great site, with outstanding prices that I like mainly because deliveries are here the next day every day In my opinion, nothing beats your local Mom & Pop guitar shop for their customer service, customer loyalty and often very flexible policies.
Thank you guys for warm responses, I guess it all comes to your own risk, we'll see how it all works out. Have a nice day.
Music123 blows. You would be insane to buy from them. They are incompetent, and they lied to me about the status of my order several times. I cancelled my order. On the other hand, American Musical Supply rules. They also have a very liberal return policy. Also, RiksMusic.com gave me SUPERB service. They don't have a broad selection of instruments, but their prices are the best I've found and their service is excellent.
I've bought six times from Musiciansfriend. One bass arrived damaged (it can happen to any retailer) but, I called them up, got an RMA number and had the replacement within three weeks. No hassle. Everything else I bought from them arrived within a week, and in perfect shape. I haven't bought from any other online retailer, so that's all I can say. I would MUCH RATHER buy from a local shop, but, they often don't have what I want, and usually give me a higher price to order what I'm looking for than MF. There's an upside and a downside to both. Good luck. Mike
Simply put: I won't but instruments from online retailers. Only effects, strings, cables, and stuff like that.
I've had a few...interesting experiences with Musician's Friend in the past. One of them happened late last year. I had ordered an amp from them, and when it arrived a few days later, I noticed a few extra boxes... Well, it turns out that they had shipped an entire DRUMSET (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7...6652535/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/404156/ - To be exact) along with the amp, without charging us for it. Now that was a real surprise! Unfortunately, my parents forced me to send it back. I would have loved to have a drumset to fool around with, or even just to sell it and get some money towards a new amp or bass. I suppose I did the right thing, though. My band's drummer has had several bad experiences with Musician's Friend also, he ordered a new Tama set a while back, and it took them almost 4 months to ship it all to him.
BASS CENTRAL!!!! thats all thats to it...best service around do i get a free bass yet gard? or at least a lesson? steve
only 4 months? mt friend orderd a tama star classic set form them...2 months later he calls them up to see where it is...according to the sales man....tama has a national back order so he calls mars to see what they can do about the drum set...that guy told two weeks... you would think that if you spend over $1500 for something...they would try...and o...over 6 months to get them..... when mars had them... steve
Interesting! I'll check out the resources you guys seggested, thanks. As for MusiciansFriend, I guess I'm just worried that some sucker will drop the bass or something.... but as was said, it can happen to anybody, I'm just being a paranoid phsycho, or maybe it's normal when you're buying your first good bass. The bad thing about the local store is that they don't have what I need, but I'll ask them if it's possible to order through them, which I doubt. I read a complete opposite review on Music123 about them being so nice and s**t... Diversity of opinions! Thanks everybody.
Munjibunga, AmericanMusical.com is the s**t! Thanks for mentioning it. I love that easy-payment plan they have!!! Too bad they don't have what I want! Bass Central is cool too, but out of my league.
