pod into "pre-amp in" ?

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by these_go211, Apr 27, 2006.

  1. i have an old peavey classic 50w tube guitar amp. if i were to plug my bass pod xt into it would it be best to go into the pre-amp in? there is no effects loop on the amp. since i wasn't sure yesterday i just plugged it into one of the regular inputs and as you'd expect it didn't sound that great. i know that isn't the way to do it but i didn't want to harm anything. thanks!

    Power-amp in would be right...

this website has several mods you can do to a classic 50 to make it sound like an old fender bassman if you can weild a soldering iron or know someone who does, that is not afraid of messing with tube amps. They can have DC Voltage in excess of 600 volts so be very very very very very very careful.
  4. gillento, thanks!

lilboo77, thanks for the website recommendation. looks interesting. if i decide to go that route i'll definitely have my amp tech do it!
