    anyone have this album? i took a chance and ordered it from www.interpunk.com and good gravy, it's one of the best albums i've ever heard!! it's like trad. irish music with a dash o' punk thrown in, and it's beautiful and hilarious and heartbreaking. i have no idea how i missed this gem for so long! "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda" nearly moved me to tears.

    It's a good album, but the production isn't the best. I think Elvis Costello produced it himself, because he was afraid some big name producer would get to them first and ruin their raw sound. My personal preference is "If I Should Fall From Grace With God."

    How does Shane Mc Gowan and the Popes compare to the original band?

    He didn't exactly leave. He was kicked out because he couldn't stay sober enough to play or record.
