I'm trying to gather some information, and rather than scan through hundreds of threads I thought it would be quicker to post a poll.
If you tune a 4 string bass to BEAD or lower, what is your preferred pickup configuration? For simplicity I'm leaving out passive\active because that just opens up a whole different can of worms.
Please feel free to discuss your answer or add something if I didn't have it in the poll.

In my experience, any pickup that sounds good to me for EADG sounds good for BEAD.

I'd probably go for dual EMG 35 series routes. Then you could swap in/out pretty much any design. Everybody makes a pickup in 35 series shells.

You don't feel that if a pickup has very deep frequencies for E that it comes muddy for B? Or that more mids are preferable for B than a scooped dual jazz tone?

I posted another poll asking about preferences between a 4 tuned to BEAD and using a 5. The 5 strings have it by an overwhelming majority. I guess that explains the low voting for this thread.

Nope. I don't prefer the Jazz tone. This is about as deep as you can get passive wise.....

I'd temped a MM in the mid position to reg MM sweet spot and an active pre.
