Sheesh A clockwork orange movie, by stanely kubrick, from the book of the same name by anthony burgess. a little bit of ultra violence anyone?
anyone read the 21st chapter? I was skeptical when I heard about it, but after reading it, it totally made the book come full circle and resolve. I was very pleased.
i dug the 21st chapter. without it, the book wouldn't really reach its point. it's about maturing (that's why is was 21; that age is a sign of adulthood). the book is about alex being MADE good, and is thus a clockwork orange; something living and breathing, but made to operate in a certain manner. he reverts back to his old ways, but eventually matures (in the last chapter) and becomes good of his own will. without that last chapter, it's a much darker resolution.
For you Star Wars fans - in "A Clockwork Orange" the speedo-wearing bodyguard that takes care of the old man that Alex and his droogies had beat up is none other than David Prowse, the man who played Darth Vader (James Earl Jones did the voice, but David Prowse was the man in the mask). -Mike
