Polyurethane and nitrocellulose finishes?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by count_funkula, Mar 27, 2002.

  1. I have a finishing question. Can a wipe-on polyurethane gloss be applied on top of a nitrocellulose based paint?

I painted my bass Inca Silver using some nitrocellulose paint I got from the guitar reranch (great product). I have screwed this finish up several times and I'm getting tired of messing with it. I want to put a tough, glossy finish on it with as little chance of messing anything else up as possible. I used a wipe-on poly finish on my neck and it worked great.

Can I do this on my painted body? Can polyurethane be wet sanded and polished to a really deep glossy shine?
