I went to a bridal show last night and there was a wedding band playing. I'm looking all around for the bass player and then suddenly I spot him. I had to take a pic for you guys. I know the stage was a little small....but c'mon!
This sums up being a bass player. Kid was really good too and had a real nice LPB Jazz.

I kind of admire him. I would totally be the same way. I wouldn't mind standing off to the side facing the opposite direction as long as I can hear the rest of the band lol.

Yep--it happens. I've done entire gigs standing behind a speaker column.

Been there. Ottos's in NYC. For some reason, one time we played there I ended up off the side. Didn't mind so much. More room to move without falling off.

Although his space is limited, I can't believe that the drummer couldn't scoot over a foot at least.

I agree. He could have totally fit on that stage. Really bad band move, IMO. Doesn't look good. Especially for a showcase.

He may be too tall for that stage. There's no way I would be able to stand next to the drummer on that stage/riser.

    Maybe he's afraid of heights?

Maybe he's stage shy and he trick himself out of his phobia by not standing on the stage....

I guess I (and my bands) missed the memo, I've always taken a prominent position on stage.

Wedding gig. Not singing. I'm not on stage, no one can see me. Give me a chair, a cold one, and pay me my money. Easy gig except for the loading in and out.

I think it's pretty funny! I would have laughed the whole set! Most bass players complain about not getting noticed: well, that guy has his own thread right here, pictures to prove it!!!

    :rollno: No respect...

I've been left with a 2x2 square to stand in many times. Usually due to the guitar players massive pedal board. ***?

I love getting to the venue early so I can stake my claim. I usually get asked: "Is that where you are going to be?"

My answer: "Yes, it's on the side of the snare and high hat and I have enough room for my gear.

  20. Not much head room under there behind the sax player. The sound might have been bad there.
