I just did a setup on my Squier VM PJ and everything sounded great, but then I noticed I get a popping sound on the attack of notes on the E string when only the bridge pickup is on. I've tried adjusting the pickup height but that didn't seem to do anything. This is only happening on the E string, and I'm pretty sure it's electronics related because I don't hear anything acoustically. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

  2. What's the distance from the top of the bridge pickup pole pieces to the bottom of the E string? I would also check all the solder joints for a good contact even the pickup for starters.

I started it around 7/64" like the Fender recommends and I've tried moving it around a bit. I'll check the soldering and see if anything looks off.

I'm unfamiliar with the construction of Squier PUs but if they have bar magnets glued to the sides of the pole pieces on the bottom, it may be a loose magnet.
