Possible Fix for My Amp Hum ?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by thebasssponge, Oct 3, 2009.

  1. Recently acquired Peavey Minx 110 Bass Amp has a hum that goes away when I touch the strings of the guitar .... which I assume means a ground problem w/ the instrument plug

cord and bass are fine and not the problem as they work fine w/ other amps

can the plug be grounded to the ground on the power cord ? and if so what end of the plug ?

if not, any ideas to cure ?

It's supposed to do that, and the cause of the hum is your bass, not the amp. Perfectly normal. If the hum didn't go away when you touch the bridge or strings then you'd have a problem.
