    birdbass-1.

Ryan posted this on the Gadow forum yesterday (which I just joined).

Yeah, I really like my recently aquired Gadow bass.

And I am very intrigued about this one, if he's going to make it. :)

    Bill,

Is it me or does that design have a marked resemblance to the "Green Machine"?:ninja:

Maybe you can be a BETA tester :hyper:

    :D

    Indeed it does!

I think how this should work is, they should send me both the Green Machine, and the GadowBird, I'll do the testing, and send them right back....

A decade counts as "right back" dosen't it? :ninja:

    Custom Bass Battle gone Irish?

A decade? Shoot It'd take me a decade to find my favorite strings on each, before I began with the "real" testing.:smug:

...and just so everyone knows...we can put any pickup configuration in our basses...the ones shown in the CAD drawing is just for representation.

Stefan - Ryan is telling me 4-5 months to deliver one of these bad boys... is another fretless 4 what you have in mind?!?

Actually, before I saw this I had another Gadow Classic fretless spec'ed in my mind.
But I wanted to get some mileage on my mean green machine before I pull the trigger on another Gadow.

So far, after 2 days of honeymoon a Gadow fretless bass seems like a matchmade for me.

Only one akward thing is the 12" radius on the neck... but I need to play it more. Might just be a thing I need to get used to. It certainly is not a dealbreaker, 12".
I gues I'm just too familiar with 9.5".

I've got some thinking to do. :)

    Fretless Gadowbird seems interesting.
I just don't know about what pickups.

Hmmmm... what would I choose, you ask? Joe Barden, of course! JJ or PJ... :bassist:

    You know it'd kill. ;)
Maybe even one of his humbuckers, if it would work on bass string spacing.

I now have a bass with for the first time a J/MM pickup configuration.
It's new to me and I'm getting used to it.

To be honest, right at the moment I feel that a single P pickup is still what works best for me.
Again, that's what I'm most used to, and I know how to work it.
But at the same time I am loving the J/MM... I am still exploring the possibilities.

P/J never did anything for me.
Matter of fact, I took out the J pickup out of my Tony Franklin.
J at the bridge was useless to me on every bass I tried.

Might also because I am a weirdo. :)

Why mess with what you know...go with the J/MM...we could also put a push/pull pot to split the MM.

What about that Delano MM pickup that has a Jazz pickup built in?

I'm trying to imagine it: a "thunderbird" body with that Gadow headstock.

What I don't like about Gibson Thunderbird is their headstocks.

So this is going to look amazing I guess.

Hmmm... what colours and what pickups? :)

My gut tells me: single P... a Joe Barden which you guys so rave about.

    Keep brainstorming friends.
I apreciate all input and suggestions.

    I haven't ordered anything.

... but I am being tempted so much. :meh:

Especially after playing an hour on the green Gadow this evening, this time full out through my rig. :)

Man, with that J pickup I have that Helloween/ Eagle Fly Free lead bass sound right on the fly.
WOW, I never got any bass to sound like that.
I don't know how Markus Grosskopf does it.
(Probably only Darkstrike knows what I'm on about here. :))

Oh hell yes, I know, I know, but at the same time, I don't know(how he does it.) :D

I agree on the headstocks too, as for finish, hmmm, maybe a natural wood one, or some kind of see through blue?

Oh, and Marcus Groskopf, he's got the best dirty bass sound I've ever heard, with Bassinvaders, there's a thread on them here, somewhere, under the title "Hey Greg" hehe. :D

I always felt like Markus had a typical P-bass through an Ampeg SVT sound. Which is his gear... I think. Appearantly he endorses Yamaha now... dunno for sure.
But I don't feel like he has a particular dirty sound.

Except on Eagle Fly Free, that trumpet-like phrasing, amazing.
Has to do with the man's talent. IMO the best metal bassist out there.
