I recently swapped my Rickenbacker 4003's bridge pickup cover assembly for a chrome plexiglass pickguard. After putting it all back together in the order referenced at http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/bpickups.pdf (minus the stock horseshoe, obviously) the output of both pickups is considerably weaker than before. I figure this has something to do with the grounding, but I'm not sure exactly what to do. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  2. Check that both pickups do have their cold wire going to the ground.

Maybe the original pickguard was covered in conductive material and your actual is not. Then a few pots would not be wired to ground.
But I don't know a thing about Rick' electronics, so I'd request a focused snapshot of the electronics.
