For those who haven't seen the new Ibanez RD-500, it has a MM and J pickup configuration and a two band preamp, pickup balace, and volume, a total of four knobs. I came up with this idea, so tell me if it is possible, of if there are other possibilities.

I was thinking of buying a Basslines MM pickup with the 3 band preamp, and a Basslines SJB Jazz Bass pickup, and wiring them, withouth a pickup balance. Is this possible? To just permanently have both pickups in use, wired to the preamp?

You could also just stack some of the knobs and have a blend too.

Would that be possible with the Basslines STC-3 preamp?

You would have to ask someone who has it to be sure, but im almost positive it would be.

You could do what you described, but why spend all that money to limit your otions?

Get the stc-3p system - which has a blend and master volume. You'll have much more tonal variety. Don't get the MM replacement preamp, which only has master volume.

The bass I'm looking at only has 4 holes for controls.

Alright, sounds good. Originally, I was wanting to get a good Stingray sound, but now, I just need to try and fit this thing right.

Where and for how much might I be able to find this preamp?
