Hi guys, Im currently using a SWR SM-900 head with a SWR 4 12 cabinet. Last night I noticed that when I play an open E there's this subtle, (I dont know how to describe it other than a slight residual furr or distortion) only when I play an open E. I took the grill off thinking that one of my speakers might have a crease or hole or something but they all look fine. I dont really know what else to check that might cause this. The only other thing that I could think of is that my head is like 10 years old, and was wondering if the preamp tube might be going bad. Could this cause the symptom that Im describing?

    Thanks

    John

It probably is the tube. Easy change... It will make a world of difference once the change is made
