    hi fellas,
is it possible to wire a 6x10 cab with 8 ohm drivers that is originally 5.3 ohms to 2 ohms (or close to) ?
original wiring is 3 serial pairs in parallel (16/3=5.3)

    cheers,

I think the closest you could get is 1.33 ohms, if you had each pair in parallel, and then the 3 pairs in parallel with each other. But thats a pretty low impedance, that might be dangerous.

yeah, i've tried every combination on paper and the closest i get is 1.33333333333ohm.

thanks, trooper and ras. there´s a 6x10 out there that´s 2 ohms (ebs), but they probably use 4 ohm speakers wired the same way as the 8 ohm speakers in 5.3 ohm config, so they get (8/3=2.6).

the reason i was asking is cos the warwick 6x10 sounds really sweet but with the db750 i´m planning to get i´d get only ~600 watts out of it.

  5. I wouldn't worry about squeezing every last watt out of your amp. Chances are good that you would barely be able to tell the difference (in volume). Besides, I would guess that the 6x10 cab would be plenty loud with a 600 watt amp.

I don't foresee any volume problems with a DB750, even at 5.3 ohms.

Not to hijack the thread, but the Berg NV610 uses 6 ohm drivers, right? To get 4 ohms?

i don´t foresee any volumeproblems either, but since i already have a wt400 into 210xst, i want my second, "big rig" to be really monster-killer-plaster-falling-off-the-walls loud. and the db750 into 5.3 ohms would prolly be ~600something watts. so i did not want to waste all those lovely watts and wanted to go fore something near 2 ohms so i´d get around 1000...

    cheers,
