I didn't want to bump 2 year old threads...

but i think it is time to do away with post counts again, or leave them as perks for supporting members, gold supporting members and mods.

it's becoming a game again, with people posting threads about x number of posts and just takes some of the fun away from TB, while logging on and seeing some threads like "2000 P05t5!!11!1! LOL!!!"

    just a thought...

I asked about this a while ago, as I wanted the ability to make mine invisible.

You don't want us to know how much you frequent this site? :)

  4. I think post counts are fine, but only the people who make threads about post counts should have them taken away...
    oh the poetic justice!

i read that thread when i searched "post count".

someone said that is the "other end" of the spectrum...

funny thing though... none of the AW's will be for this idea.

I think this hits the nail on the head. Make this a mod feature or something.

like my "on line" status... I'd prefer my post count to not not show either

Good point, I'm actually not too crazy about that green/grey dot next to my name either. I would rather people not know how much I'm on here.

but they would know by how much your post count has grown in 7 months..

    :ninja:

    :)

  10. How about just making a rule banning "X posts" threads. Also I think it would be a good idea to make both the online status and post count invisible if the user chooses so.

I think that is the best solution.

Actually, I'd like to combine this with superbassman2000's suggestion. Make these types of 'X posts' against the rules, and then the punishment for those that break this rule is that they have their post count taken away. Sweet irony!

I'd also like to see postcounts nuked in some way. They serve no purpose that is not already catered for by the 'Join Date' label, and lead to spammy threads designed only to raise one's count.

:meh: This Smiley has been worn out completely by
TB's highest poster, as he uses 5 per post, I think. Actually,
more since the 5 'HMMMs' per post limit was dropped.

While we are making suggestions and engaging in
constructive criticisms, I think this ' :meh: ' should be
archived, and this ' qSmiley. ' should be made active, as that ultimate expression of
Qintardedness, 'incredible.'. Of course the flag should be ' :bc=q: '

Yea, then you have to click on the "Find all posts by this user" link to see if they've posted to a thread in the last 2 minutes. Gives a good idea if said user is online or not... :)

  18. i call this thread a victory because i got to use the phrase "poetic justice"

Actually, nevermind any of my other suggestions, I'd just like to see post counts destroyed, or at least an optional removal for users. As trog said, they serve little if no purpose.

y'all are just annoyed with yourselves 'cause your post count gives you a quantifiable number of just how much time you waste on here...
