Alright, I haven’t seen this done in a while. This is a thread to find out what kind of machine the next guy is running, and maybe even get a little PC support from the techies. :D

    My Current PC specs

Operating System = Windows XP Professional. I’m eventually going to dual boot Linux

    Motherboard = Leadtek Winfast K7NCR18D-PRO, | 333 FSB | Nforce2 SPP + Nforce2 MCP-T Chipset | Up to 3GB or DDR RAM | AGP 8X

CPU = AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.47 GHz with Thermaltake high performance heat sink and fan. Over Clocking will commence shortly. ;)

    GFX = NVIDIA GeForce 4 TI 4200

    Memory = 512MB DDR-RAM

    HDD = Two 20GB Western Digital Caviar 7200RPM HDD’s

Soundcard = Old SB Live! Card (switching to onboard 5.1 surround when I get the cables)

Case = Antec Performance Plus series case

Drives = Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM drive, TDK CD-RW drive, Generic 3.5 Inch Floppy

Speakers = Cambridge SoundWorks 5.1 surround speakers

Monitor = 19 Inch KDS monitor.

    Future Upgrades

Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum

    Case mods.

Trade out my current RAM for two sticks of CORSAIR MEMORY XMS 512MB 64MX64 PC-3200C2PT With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreader. Altogether I will have 1024GB of RAM.

I guess building your own PC’s has its advantages. hehe…

Anyways, post away guys. I’m interested in seeing what you guys are running. :)
  2. OS - Win 2k Pro
    Mobo - Anaheim 3
    CPU - Celeron 766
    GFX - Geforce 2 MX440
    RAM - 128MB
    HDD - 20 GB
    Sound - Intel AC97 Codec
    Case - Emachines
    Drives - 12x10x32 CDRW, 3 1/2 floppy
    Speakers - ?
    Monitor - Envision 17" flat

If I upgrade: AMD Athlon XP 2000+, KT333 mobo, 512MB DDR2700 RAM, Geforce 4, etc...
  3. hmmm....

my main pc's current specs(keeps changing) are:

    Windows XP
    can't remember what mobo
    AMD Athlon 1800XP+ 1,53ghz
256mb DDR RAM @ 333mhz (gonna upgrade ASAP)
    32mb Geforce2 AGP card(also gonna upgrade ASAP)
    64mb Geforce2 PCI card
    some cheapo 10/100 network adapter
    Hauppauge TV-in card
    16x DVDrom
    16x8x40x CDRW
    floppy drive
    80GB WD hdd
    17GB Maxtor hdd
really nice and cheap speakers (2.1)
    15" HP L1520 LCD monitor
    17" Smile monitor

I think that's about it... but that's just one system, I'm currently on a 400mhz PII with a 17" monitor, and also have a 633 mhz celeron with two 14" monitors(haven't decided what to do with that one yet).

and, yes, it has it's advantages making your own pc. but it also has it's disadvantages of always wanting to upgrade it, and of course, always getting asked by other people: "Can you fix my computer?". it can really drive a man nuts! that's why I'm getting thinkgeek's "No, I will not fix your computer" t-shirt. :)

    and, yes, I'm a geek. :p

I've got 8 machines running currently. from MacOS to Linux to Solaris to Windows...

    My main workstation is:
    ECS K7S5A mobo

    ABIT gf2 32mb

    Lite On 40x 12x 48x CDR-w
    maxtor 7200rpm 15GB
    maxtor 5400rpm 40GB

it's about 13 months old and starting to feel it. the sound video and cpu are on the upgrade list.

my system i'm building right now is:

Athlon XP 1800+ (stock clock for now)
    Gigabyte GA-7VAXP board
    512mb Samsung PC2700 ram
    15GB Maxtor
    120GB WD Special edition
    ATi Radeon 7500 LE
    Antec PS and case

might dual boot with SUSE, might not. no idea right now, i'll wait to get it running before getting fancy-pants.

the system i'm on right now is:
Celeron 466 (stole it out of my girlfriends dead comp last nite - old CPU was a 433)
    256mb pc100
15GB maxtor (going to the new comp)
    HP 16x burner (same)
2x NIC's for internet sharing with my laptop

it's getting stripped and given to my girlfriend because her computer just died. not sure how much longer this one's gonna live though, it's getting a bunch of weird voltage readings in SANDRA. like, my 3.3v is reading .02v, but that can't be right - i just replaced the PS with a known good one. also reading 149* F board temp. also incorrect.

    laptop is:
    Gateway Solo 2150
    Celeron 400
160mb pc133 (it HAS a 256 stick in there but wont recognize it  )
  6. Ok, I have an Athlon XP 1900, a geforce 4 mx 440 video card, a Turtle bech Santa cruz sound card, 512 mb DDR (PC-2700) Ram.

My best PC is my Xbox. :p

My 3.5 year old P2-400 is plenty good enough for internet duty.
