Actually, Paul joined John’s band, the Quarrymen, in 1957, then Paul brought George in, early ‘58. They recorded their first original song that year as well. The name “Long John and the Silver Beatles” was tried out as early as 1959.

I don’t know who the guy on the right is, maybe their first drummer, Wrongo.

Correct. They became the Beatles in 1960. Have your read Mark Lewsisohm's volume 1 of the Beatles? Fascinating. Volume one took about 10 years and he's been researching another 10 years for volume 2.
