blocking date off in band calendar so I don't have a late gig the night before, which is what's kept me from last couple of these

I'll let John/The Crusader fill in the little details since I don't know them all this year. But this is the 5th annual get-together in August in Floral Park (the western part of Long Island) at a fine German restaurant and bar called the Plattedeutsche (I may have spelled that wrong).

I went to the first two, but have missed the last two. Here's how it went when I was there: John reserves an event room for us on a Sunday, and lots of cool TBers start showing up late morning with their fantastic basses, amps, and other gear. Everyone plays the gear, has tasty German food and beer, hangs out and has a great time. Builders have shown up with their basses and/or amps for people to try and buy. There have also been giveaways and raffles in the past. There is also an admission charge, but it's always well worth the price.

    In short, don't miss it!:)

You should mention the bit where a select crowd of reprobates hang out afterwards in the bar until waaaaaaay too late drinking enough beer to sink an aircraft carrier. :D

Well, I made the trip across the pond for the first three of these and loved every minute. But I missed last year, dammit. As for this year - dunno yet. I'm working on it.

    Hmmm. Sounds very interesting.

    I'm about 70/80 miles away.

So - what's the plan After all the consumption of Stuff.
I can't drive home after that.

Why not? It's a good place to have it. 40 minutes or so from Penn Station, great venue, easy to get to, all facilities spot on. Where's the problem?

Count me in! Provided I can get there. How far away is the venue from the train station?

Its not eastern long island. Its 34 minutes from Penn station, just 5 minutes past queens, 15 minutes from the throngs neck or whitestone bridge.

Oh, ok. Someone up in the thread said it was east LI. I may very well attend in that case. How would you get there from the Queens/Brooklyn border? I live off the M train.

Well, for someone out of state, they don't understand that to us, the real eastern long island is the end of the world. Greg meant well though and I hope to see him here!
