Power Amp?

Discussion in 'Ask Mike Watt [Archived]' started by LaSalle Dioxide, Feb 27, 2003.

  1. I'm thinking about buying a Crown Power Amp, either a K1 or K2. Apparently, these bad boys have the highest "dampening factor" of any amp. I didn't know much about dampening factor, but after reading about it, it sounds like a good thing.

I'm getting a pretty mean sound from my current set-up (a Gallien Krueger 700 RB, SansAmp bass driver, Ampeg 8 by 10 cab, and a Travis Bean TB2000 bass). The only complaint I really have is this - at live volumes, I think I'm pushing the capabilities of my head too hard. I think it could be punchier, and maybe some of the punch is lost with overpushing a head.

Watt, do you think my sound would shake more rib cages through if I ran my head through a power amp?
