Have searched the forums and reviews (as well as Berg site) and have learned that this is a very good cabinet and might have scooped mids. Also gather that it needs a fair amount of power. Would either a Trace AH350 or Ampeg SVT3 Pro be a good much for a medium volume rock band application? Looking for very clear sound with deep bass but not particularly fond of scooped mids. Have been happy with a EV 1x15 with a vented mid range driver but would like more power handling capacity.
Wow, a bit scatter barined on my part. I believe the senator meant to say "and thoughts regarding a Bergantino HT322" Actually quit drinking 3 years ago and don't do dope, perhaps typing lessons should be in my future!
man i played that cab and the terms "mid shy" and "power hungry" did not come to mind. I found it punchy, full and loud. but i haven't played one out. To be honest, that is one cab that would make me reconsider my ban on larger bass cabs.
It was previous posts that called for power and scoopedness. Haven't played it yet but was able to pick it up without too much trouble; way easier than many old 4x10 cabs or any of the 2x15's I've owned. Was crazy top heavy and pretty low to the ground though. Never had a boutique cab and have been very impressed by the loyalty of forum members to Bergantino products and service. Hope to demo next week. Don't know what they cost new as they are NLA but am thinking that $650 is about right for used; I'm working on a trade deal.
My friend who has one uses a Reed Purity preamp and a Stewart World 2.1 amp. His Sadowsky nyc P/J KILLS through that rig. Best tone I have heard in very a long time.
I have two 322s and have played them out many times with a variety of heads. I would not characterize them as mid-shy in any way. I find it also quite efficient. I was using my Walkabout Scout head with it for a while and was skeptical that it could power the cab well. I was proved very wrong. The 322, if you can handle the weight, is one of the great cabs of all-time.
