You can screw it on back of your cab , so the speaker cable lenght is minimal.

    World class sound.

The best power amp I've used/owned for bass is a Bryston 4B.
That's his younger brother. ( half his brother :smug: )

  2. not to compleatly harsh on your gig man... but i disagree entirely...I always put my heads on the ground.....so the cab wont rumble it apart.....if ths thing has a great tone ...so be It but I cant see it holding it self together ver long....idk.... if youved used one for a while and said so cool...but idk man idk

most home stereo subs have there amps mounted to them and do just fine, as do combo amps.......

  4. that is a cool idea--I would give it a shot if the price was right

Those as VERY hi end amps. Like everything else , you got what you pay for.

It can be the last amp you'll buy for the next 20 years.
They have one of the best warranty in the buisness.

I bought their BMP-2 preamp , wich by the way , blows away any Avalon , Millenia , Neve pres ( if we talk "flatness" ).
Bought it like 10 years ago.
Once got a problem with the PSU.
They paid everything and return the unit whitin the next week , free of charge. I have it sine 1998 !!!!!
Try to find a company that back up it's product like that !

    I used a 4B a couple of years and also have a 10B ( crossover )
    I like that company a lot !!!

EDIT; I have to add ; if you have a "bass cab" that isn't full range and flat , it's really not worth it.
you won't hear a difference between that and a Peavey.

I'm sure the amp is good, but if you think a 3-4 feet of cable is going to degrade your sound so much that you have to screw a power amp to the back of your speaker cab to make a 6-inch cable connection, then you've got bigger problems than lack of sonic clarity. I would suggest starting with OCD and taking it from there ;)

Give me a Bergantino IP series. I love my HT212... that's just too much coin for just a power amp. (IMO, of course!)

    I bought a RCF ART310A a month ago and I'M in heaven.
    350watts , 27 pounds.....

That'S the main reason I sold my 4B in the first place , the weight.
I had a 3 way system with two 4B , one bridged mono for sub , and one for mid-highs.

In fact , I was using a PA as bass amp. Best sound I ever had. Bur that's when I started to have back problems.:smug:

Now it's all about weight/sound......... Time goes by.........

EDIT: an active box is a poweramp attached to a speaker..........

Bryston makes some very good and high end (and expensive) products. They are a legend in some hi fi circles. Their power amps are tough as nails and conservatively rated. Unless you're Anthony Jackson you probably would never appreciate them for normal electric bass use. But, if you have money to burn you could make up quite a nice rig. The problem is in finding speakers that are up to the same sonic standards.

  14. Whats so new about the concept? Plate amps have been around for years.

An Acoustic Image Focus is 800 watts at 4 ohms, and it weighs 4 lbs.

  17. Is that meant to be a good or bad thing?
