I have just acquired a bass guitar. I would like to know what amp would be best to practice with. I don't need a really big setup up yet just one to practice with. I don't want to spend a lot of money as I don't know if this is going to become an obsession. I hope it does. Any good ideas, Thanks in advance.

I have a Peavey MicroBass and it sounds pretty good for what it is. It has a 20 watt amp with an 8" speaker, 3-band EQ, and it retails for only about $130 new. It isn't very loud (not suprisingly), but it has a good tone and is built like a tank. Plus it's inexpensive, considering you are not sure if this will become a hobby.
