    Hey All,

I'm looking for a little practice amp maybe along the lines of the 'Behringer ULTRABASS BXL450 45-Watt 2-Channel Bass Workstation', it sure is cheap! But from what I can tell from some reviews, it doesn't have the sound I'm looking for. I do, however, like the 'tilt-back' feature!
Can anyone recommend a LIGHT WEIGHT small combo that has the tilt-back feature and I'd love to have that low end growl that my GK amp can make.
So any small combos that can growl if I want 'em to??

    Thanks,
    radio

What GK amp do you have now?

GK makes several combo. The newer combos are very lightweight. There is also an older Backline series that you should be able to find used.

As for tiltback, you can just get an amp wedge or tilt back stand.

Very tough to get growl out of a practice amp, if by growl you mean similar to what the GK gives you. I can get a pretty decent version of it by cranking my BA108 or BA110 up past the clean point, though. And they tilt. But you do have to dial down your expectations out of a low budget practice amp. Might be better to try a pedal instead.

Agreed. One of my considerations for a decent and growly practice rig has been a Fender Rumble 75 (cheapish and tilts back) along with a Tech 21 VT bass pedal.

I have a 700RB 210. Very nice sounding but at close to 80 lbs. it's not that fun to carry round! I just wish I could find something lighter that would have that same nice 'overdrive' kind of tone!

Check out a GK MB112. Just lean it against the wall if you want to point it up. It has GK growl.

Hey, it looks like that Fender Rumble is a decent amp. I imagine if I can over drive it while not playing so loud that it drives my gf out of the house, it might be just what I'm lookin' for. Thanks!

If you want GK growl, the only amp that's going to do it is a GK.

You said you wanted a small practice amp and you've love it to growl like a GK. So, get a small GK combo.

I have a Behringer BXL3000 that I use for a practice amp and I can get a nice growl out of it. I've never played the model you listed, but it may do the job. If it's cheap enough, go for it, but check the return policy too :D

You can only get that classic GK Growl from a RB head. If you want growl at low levels you'd probably want an original GK 400RB and a really inefficient small cab like the Acme Low B1. If you're set on a combo, maybe a used Backline 110 combo? Alternatively you can get a GK 800RB and use the high amp full range with a small inefficient 8 ohm cab.
