pre-amp for raw slap tone

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by DeepDeath, Aug 3, 2002.

  1. i have about 300-500 going for a preamp ever since i got my job. i want a real raw cut through mid tone but a great slap hi-fi tone. sorta like the bassist for Cryptopsy. Eric Langlois. if anyone cant tell me a good preamp (pref. with a graphic eq also) for this tone and some eq notes. it will be appreciated. thanks

Not familiar with that guy's tone but the Peavey Max and the SWR IOD would be some things to try.

When you add a graphic into the mix, you pretty much limit yourself to a Peavey max or an SVT pro. To the best of my knowledge.

Having said that, I think it's in the bass. If the bass is a slap monster it'll kill with just about anything.

I'm playing a late model Tobias Classic through a SWR Grand Prix and the tone is very similar to the Clip on Adrians site. But it'll kill through just about anything.
