Hey guys I'm looking for a pre-amp that has awesome sound, that isn't too expensive and has a D.I. output...

You can't go wrong with either the Demeter or an Alembic. You can find both of these pretty cheap, and both are reliable. For my taste I prefer the Demeter. For my ears and style it has a more hi-fi sound. All in all it will depend on your gear, and what type of music you play.

I live in Australia and I dont think there are any distributers for Demeter....I will have to do some more research. But what type of alembic would be good? I heard the FX-1 is good chop but I'm not 100% sure....

You are correct the FX-1 is the one.
