Pre-amp XLR balanced out to MI amp effects return in - TS or TRS cable?

    There's not enough level out of the unbalanced preamp out jacks?

    The balanced out is usually lower if it's intended to be used as a DI as well.

    If the balanced out is transformer driven, it must be a 1/4" TS connector with pin 3 tied to pin 2.

    If actively driven then to generally doesn't matter.

    The 1/4" outs appear to be about -10dB so using the XLR out in the 0dB position with either a TRS or TS connector should work fine.

    Pin 3 should be connected to ring on a TRS, and pin 3 should be left open on a TS for best results, though shorting pin 3 to sleeve will still work ok.

    Avoid connecting pin 2 to ring or sleeve and using pin 3 hot on this design, that will affect performance.
