So I think more manufactures should label stuff to this detail. EQUALIZATION: BASS = +/- 15 dB @ 117 Hz; Q = 0.91 LO-MID = +/- 15 dB @ 279 Hz; Q = 0.89 MID = +/- 15 dB @ 664 Hz; Q = 0.88 HI-MID = +/- 15 dB @ 1.73 kHz; Q = 0.74 TREBLE = +/- 15 dB @ 4.95 kHz; Q = 0.73
Are those specs for an actual unit? Cause if so, I'd love one... In general, I have been able to find most of that info about specific pedals or bass pres with a bit of searching.
It's a Trace Elliot Transit B preamp, if I am not mistaking. Amazing preamp from what I have heard, though also in the more pricey end. And yes, the EQ points are included in the actual manual for the unit.
Yep it was trace, these are nice points and it would be nice to see what others do. I know they are giving trade secrets but trace don’t care.
It's important to have that information documented somewhere, but the problem is preamps and stompboxes don't always have a lot of space for labeling so the details are usually the first thing to go; in a performance your focus is divided between tasks and it's easier to find the HI-MID knob than the +/- 15 dB @ 1.73 kHz; Q = 0.74 knob. The old-school way of dealing with this is to have the controls labeled simply ("LO / LO-MID / etc.") and the details printed elsewhere on the case.
Not the exact Q value, no, but I've seen frequency response graphs floating around for a few EQ units I've looked at. The bands on that Trace Elliot EQ are perfect for what I need.
For someone who is really getting in to EQ and sound adjustments to fine tune thier sound, I find these spec helpful.
