Hi. I'm about to ask a stupid question so forgive me. I've never owned anything but normal bassamps The demeter has just one volumecontrol. I don't know if this acts as gain or volume. Somebody can probably tell me. When I wanna turn up volume, which i normally do (on my db750) with the...well....volume knob, what should i reach for? The master on the crown (xti2000)? Or the volume on the demeter? The latter will not make much sense if in fact is a gain knob right? that would alter the sound not just the volume. Please help a confused guy And a small question more. Can i mount the Demeter in the top slot in a rack, or will it run hot there? Thx
Not a stupid question. Leave the amp attenuators up at 100%, use the Demeter's volume control to regulate levels. I use the HBP-1 and Crest CA-6. You may rack both in the same box provided there's ample space between the two and adequate ventilation to dissipate the heat. Riis
The old 2 rackspace Demeter and Almebic F2B have no master volume control. These are based off of pre master volume fender and AT+T designs of the 40's. You CAN put a master volume control in these as a simple aftermarket mod, but most the time you dont need it really. You can leave the power amp full on, and use the gain (demeter) to get your level. It IS like controlling volume with a gain knob, wich seems backwards..but this actually gives you a cleaner tone.
Hell if I know. If your Demeter pre has a "volume" knob, that's what its for. If your pre doesn't have a volume control then I'm stuck. FTR, the pic I found showed a volume knob and lots of other neat looking controls and buttons. Riis
I've got a Demeter/amp rig. I like to crank up the Demeter volume till just before the preamp clips a little, then use the amp attenuator as my master volume. Nice and fat this way.
It has a volume knob. But it's placed where gain normally would be. And there's nothing named gain. I wrote to demeter himself. He must know what the right way is
