Pre EB Stingray problem?

    I've been getting some unwanted distortion thru my rig. At first I thought it was the head or the cab, but upon further inspection, the heads and speakers are fine. (Tried 2 heads, one tube and one SS, and two of the same cabs, speakers aren't blown)

    I have a 79 Stingray and I play out a lot with it (i.e. it gets drenched in sweat constantly).
    I've tried a new battery, but to no avail. Could something be wrong with the onboard preamp? The cables are all top notch, and it occurs even when plugged straight into the head (no pedals).
    It's a high end buzz that's unpleasant (not an overdriven tube tone)

    Any thoughts?

    I've got an 83 and never had that problem.
    Do other active basses do this with the same rig and, does this bass do this in other amp set ups?
    You might try the EB forum as they have some pretty sharp guys over there who could probably tell you the exact spec parts.

    White wire to pup was had bad solder. Sounds great again.
