Oh snap! Working remote and finally dug into the case. The owner was Johan Maximilian Sievert and he left a truss rod wrench and CD of his quartet! Awesome! Bass players are the best!

I hope some of you may be able to help me. Earlier this year I started building a four-string bass guitar. And yes, it is somewhat of a Tobias knock off but with my own head design. Since I own both Pre and Gibson models, I took measurements from them all and drew up a hybrid model. Surprisingly, there are slight difference between all of them.

For the body I’m using the pre-Gibson shape but for the rest I’m following Gibson’s dimensions. All of my pre-Gibson models are five strings.

I’ll be finishing up the truss rod install soon and will then cut the neck and head profiles. It occurred to me that someone on this forum maybe able to take some measurements from their four-string pre-Gibson and I will then be able to compare those to what I have drawn out. Can someone help me?

What I need are the following measurements (in millimeters please):
    1. Nut/fretboard width,
    2. Measurements between the strings from center of string to center of string at the nut,
    3. Width of the end of the fretboard at the body end,
    4. Thickness of the thinnest part of the neck (not including the fretboard),
    5. Thickness of head at the thickest part of heal/flair, and
    6. The fretboard radius at either end of the board.
    Thank you for your help.

Pre-Gibson Tobias for sale locally in Norway. I would've grabbed it if I could afford it. It's number 415 from '85 or '86. Posted here solely for informational purposes :)

If I hadn't just bought fellow TBer's Wal MK3 6 string... Been drooling over this baby for a couple a weeks on Reverb. Dumb question: Did Tobias ever make a 6 string Omega?

Hello family I am a former Tobias Guitars/Burbank employee. I'm looking for my original Tobias Basic serial #544
It was trans -red with my initials "RR" in the ebony fingerboard at the 12th fret. I'd like to reacquire it. Thanks all....

I’ve had several Pre-Gibs... I miss them. Think I need to find one again. The one I liked best was #666 and I’d love to have that one back. Well, other than the weight of it. Solid bubinga wings Basic model.

While we are it, I've been looking for this Basic since the early 90's. Mike told me it was a lined fretless....
