Pre-war Czech flatback bass Circa 1910.
This bass was a workhorse and shows it.
Extensive restoration was done four/five years ago by Lisa Gass of LA Bass Works, including new bridge, tailgut, endpin, and glueing and cleating of all cracks.
Neck block, fingerboard and scroll are fine. The bass is solid.

Healthy set of Thomastik Weich (light) gauge strings are installed.
Would make for a great gigging bass for the working professional or upgrade for someone wanting a fully carved old bass.

    String Leng IMG_1304.jpg IMG_1305.jpg IMG_1306.jpg th 42 5/8"
    Upper Bout 20
    Center Bout 14
    Lower Bout 26
    Rib depth 8 1/4

Can ship but will be $500 for CONUS.

Looking to replace this with a hybrid with shorter string length - e.g., the Eastman VB95's 40".
Ultimate goal: a "travel" bass with removable neck. And a lightweight case.
(Love working out of town, but not always compatible with the 'blind-date' basses in faraway places.)

    Update:
The bass worked at the "world's oldest jazz club and waterfront dive," The Lighthouse, in Hermosa Beach, CA, yesterday, and filled the room with fat sound. It provided a nice cushion for the quartet backing the phenomenal singer, Barbara Morrison.
Brought along a pre-amp, but the old Czech roared with just the old Underwood p/u and an indefatigable Genz-Benz 12T. This bass loves to play the blues, and just had to show off on a half-chorus solo on "I Loves You, Porgy."
Still, am slightly discomfited by the 42 5/8"string length - as my body is shrinking, apparently - so am ready to settle down with a bass that has a shorter mensure.

This sounds like a great bargain. Richard is a stand up guy and bassist!
