I'm wanting to get a Preamp/DI Box, but I'm not sure what to look for. I've been looking at the EBS MicroBass II, but don't have the money for it right now. Should I wait and save up for the EBS? I'll take any other suggestions too. Thanks.

I own the EBS, it is a great little Pre-amp.

If you want some sound samples http://www.soundclick.com/ebe9

Some crappy examples of me slapping for an online comp.

Just be sure to, if you do pick up the EBS, to get the latest model which does include a pre/post EQ switch.

For about $200. you can get a Sansamp Para DI. This
will work for upright or electric bass. Sweepable mids,
Tube emulation knob, and quiet in the studio. Nice preamp/DI.

How's the Sansamp compare to the EBS? The EBS seems to have so much more.

The regular Sansamp or the programmable might be worth checking out.
    Also the MXR Bass DI.

How do those compare to the EBS? Do they have as many options and features?

I can't really answer that as I know very little about the EBS.

The reason I went for the EBS was mainly for the "EBS sound" but it is an extremely potent little pre-amp.

Feature wise it will have to twidling for days. I did also look ad the Radial Tone Bone and the Sansamp. If I had not gone the EBS route it would have been the Radial Tone Bone.

I found the sound of the Sansamp to be a little tricky to work with in terms of finding a tone I liked, but that of course does not mean that you will not find something that works fore you.

It was just a case of plugging in the EBS, setting it flat and having a very workable tone from the get go. It is also very clean (trademark of EBS) which for me at least means that it fits on nicely with out effects. And the built in effects loop on it expands your options.

I would suggest doing a search on the forum for the EBS pre-amp, I know I was asking a lot of questions before I got mine. Hopefully those threads will be able to help you out.

I have an EBS head and cab and love it. It is always very clean, which I love. I also support their effects, that I have tried.
