Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by Zonplayer, Apr 3, 2001.

  1. I was looking for recommendations for a single space preamp with a compressor and an FX loop.

I think the Ampeg SVP-BSP is great. Two channels, clean and overdrive, and they can be mixed. Has a built in limiter.

  3. I need compression for my samplers not limiting, but otherwise sounds kewl. Thanks.

The only one I have found is from Focusrite called the Tonefactory

I am looking in my Feb '95 issue of bass player with the pre-amp shootout and the one space pre's with compression are

    1. EBS - EBS-1
    2. Carvin - Pro bass 15
    3. BBE - 383
    4. ADA - MB-1

There might be more, but those are the ones I know of. The Carvin Pro Bass 15 actually rated well, but I don't think they make it any more so you would have to find a used one. The EBS rated well except for convienience, must be complex. The BBE rated just ok. The ADA rated poorly, but I know a lot of people look for them, also complex to run. Hope I helped, I just went strictly by what Bass Player said though.
