The pre amp for my BB 3000 af died years ago and I am finally going to put a new one in. I was going to put in a Seymour Duncan preamp that I have had for years but it is to big to fit in the cavity. Since I have to buy a new one now I was wondering what would be a good preamp to put in it.

One thing that I know is that I want a two band preamp and it needs to be pretty small to fit into a fairly tight space. I also do not know if the pickups are truly active, like EMG's or if it only had an active preamp. I have lost the original preamp long ago and I cannot check the pots to see what values they were.

I would appreciate any advice that anyone may have for this.

    Thanks,
    Mike

You can get an EMG BTC Control, which will work with any pickup. It's a stacked bass/treble control, and you can change the frequency for the treble band. If you want the two knob version use the BTS Control.

It's a nice clear sounding preamp and is pretty cheap.

Another small unit that sounds good is the Kent Armstrong MM2.
