Preamp tubes?

    How do you know when it is time to change the tubes in your preamp? I think my Demeter sounds fine but might it sound better with a new tube?

    The only time you need to change your preamp tubes is when they die completely. Changing tubes will probably not make a noticable difference. The preamp designer probably designed the circuit with a certain tube in mind, and putting something else in there might ruin the sound.
