    If I buy a preamp such as the tech 21 rbi and a power amp do i need an actual bass head?

    It depends on what you want to do. To plug into FOH, the preamp would be all you need. To drive a speaker cabinet, you will need an amplifier in addition to the preamp.

  6. It will work fine IF the pre-amp pedal has enough output to drive the power amp fully.

    An RBI should drive most power amps just fine. It's designed to do so.

    One of the best pre & power amp combos available...acts as an integrated bass head. Use the RBI / RPM / VT 1/4" affected output into the power amp's channel one 1/4" input. You can run your power amp in dual-mono or bridged mono depending on the enclosure. What did you have in mind?
