Probably just boost the Neck pickup. its hard to get the thump anyway on a jazz, but maybe boost low mids?

The series pickup mod will get you closest

  4. I suggest turning the bridge pickup completely off and playing close to the neck up above the front pickup. Then you may try restringing your bass with Flatwound strings.

It's really difficult to make either bass sound like each other, thats why there is two different designs, Jazz Bass and P bass.

    Good luck experimenting!
