What is a presence knob? Is it just an ultra-high EQ? In my sansamps manual, it says this knob "adds harmonic content" while the treble one doesn't. I don't understand...

You know, I've also wondered this. On my Peavey amp, the Presence controls is just an EQ for the really high frequencies, while on a SansAmp, they are listed as having EQ controls AND a presencse. ??

  3. I think the presence knob, the way you describe it, adds distortion in the very high frequency range, but only slight amounts of it. It creates the sense of increased clarity and brightness. It only shows up with a speaker cab with a tweeter or otherwise bright sound character.

I would say it's a harmonic enhancer type of thing.
